Clifton: A relaxed afternoon at the beach

One of Cape Town’s most famous attractions are its beautiful beaches, and of course we also spent some time there, e.g. for a sundowner at Llandudno beach. Clifton even offers four beaches, and one nice day in late April we relaxed a little bit in a caribbean atmosphere…

There is a small promontory which leads into the ocean, and we left our car there. We walked through the beautiful houses on the rocks; they are totally different to the big apartment buildings at the other end of Clifton which also may have contributed to the name “South African Riviera” to this area.

In my imagination houses in the Caribbean must look like these one-story wooden houses with nice terraces under palms which make the Clifton beaches a relaxed place. One day I have to go there and compare…

And here you have another example of the diversity and the contrasts in Cape Town. Look out to the sea, and you notice trawlers and container ships accompanied by kayaks…

Contrasts, Clifton Beach, Cape Town…and if you turn around you see Table Mountain through the palms, and it seems so near that you can easily recognize the Upper Station, sitting on top of the mountain like a castle…
